Someone must be really concerned that the YBIA Office gets too dirty, because every couple of days we get a call by some cleaning company offering their services to us. But actually we know pretty good how to keep clean. So we’re not really interested in those calls …
… But yesterday everything changed! Nothing was the same anymore! The Gum Fighters called! And changed all our lives!!! Because we found this video! Have a look and let the Gum Fighters come into your life!
The first Illuminate Yaletown finally took place last Saturday and it was a huge success! The BIA staff thinks that approximately 30,000 people have been attending the event throughout the evening. Can you believe that? I can’t! Thanks for joining us and making this night unforgettable! And if you haven’t been able to come around here’s a video I just found on youtuve that gives you a pretty good impression of what our event was like! Check it out!
The 2009 Illuminate Yaletown Photo Contest
On Saturday, February 21st, 2009, light art will illuminate Yaletown starting at sunset at 5:29pm. Photographers are encouraged to take photos and add them to this Illuminate Yaletown Flickr group
Voting will begin on the following Monday or Tuesday with more than $500 in prizes. Prizes will be awarded for best photos by popular vote, best photos by judges selection, as well as “best collection” “fastest uploads.” More details about prizing to follow shortly.
Everything has to come to an end and so does also the Christmas time. As the snow is finally melting and letting Vancouver’s citizens realize that they’re actually not living with Santa Claus at the north pole the YBIA workers decided that it’s time to say goodbye to the Christmas decoration.
So bring down the house for us breaking down the (gingerbread) house!
this is a funny video of Yaletown stereotypes, and some so-bad-its-good dancing and singing.
i thought at first this was an interesting little bit of stone water sculpture on the beach in yaletown. It reminds me of stonehenge, and shows that the beachfront had some design thought put into it. Tthen i found out that the structure out in the water to the left, is actually a giant floating laser pen, that moves with the currents and draws. its called ‘brush deluxe’ and its purpose is to invent a new language. zow
Hey guys here are some videos I took when I was in Yaletown this weekend
i had such a good time in Ytown this weekend. played with some hip hop dance boys on Friday night in front of EQ3. they had some crazy moves and awesome style. Dj Leanne started out playing nicely with the boys, but then decided to pick up the pace and challenge the dance boys to keep up. so they kept up, and put the rest of us to shame. check out the videos and pics to join the party late.
saturday block party was tons of fun. lots of great prizes just for showing up, the hip hop dance boys came back and ready to take on Dj Joel West. so the block was full of dancers, people laughing, the clacking prize wheel and even a tiny tots lemonade stand. The Femsport competitors were great to watch too, as the hauled heavy weights and run obstacle courses. Even the Yaletown firemen (hot hot hot) showed up to cheer on the ladies (check out the pics). Next year maybe the firemen will compete. count me in.
Hey guys come out to Yaletown this weekend. There is going to be 3 great events:
Hot Friday on Aug 8th featuring DJ Leanne & ZUZU, along with them is going to be 4 great hip-hop dancers.
On Aug 9th there is going to be a block party on the 1000 block of Hamilton, which is going to have DJ Joel West, with caricature artists, sales and prizes galore. I can’t wait for the prize wheel as there is going to be awesome prizes.
Also on Aug 9th there is going to be FEMSPORT for the first time ever in Yaletown. It’s a group of elite athletic women competing in different activities. These women work hard and are in great shape (but don’t look like men).
I can’t wait for the weekend as Yaletown is going to be the place to be and be seen!
