E.T. Landed in Yaletown

On July 20th Yaletown hosted the first free outdoor movie in David Lam Park. It was a huge success with around 1500 people coming down to enjoy the Steven Spielberg classic E.T. The turn out of people was the biggest shock to me. It really showed that Vancouverites love to be outdoors and want to enjoy their community.  The crowd consisted of people from 5 to 50yrs old. Predominently many 18 to 25 yr olds came, enjoyed the movie, cleaned up after themselves and left in a quiet manner. For an age group that is usually blamed for causing many problems nowadays it showed that we are all not as bad as the news makes us to be.

Great weather, Great location, Great movie and Great event organizers made Yaletown’s first outdoor movie a huge success. Can’t wait for another one!

Kick off of Hot Fridays & Block Party Galore

Posted in Cool, Hot, In on July 4, 2008 by traveller

June 27th was the first Hot Friday. It was a huge success with everyone wanting more. We had great tunes coming from DJ D’erico and his special guest.   All the patios were filled and the drinks were flowing. Great music, Great patios, Great sidewalk sales equals a huge success for the kick off of Hot Fridays. With Heineken as our sponsor, it was guaranteed to be a great event.

All the sidewalk sales went incredibly well, with many people finding fabulous deals. It was an amazing day to be out and a great way for merchants to clear out their stocks so they could bring in more, for future sales to come.
